This particular series of fine fly rods is unique among the fly rods of today. Its actions are based on the amazing Greenhart action of 200 years ago. It almost sounds heretical, but in most rivers, lakes and saltwater bays, fly fishing this slow, but powerful action is the action of choice. High modulus, fast action and/or medium fast action rods are not as efficient, enjoyable or accurate as many have come to believe. Few alternatives, however, have been available in the past two or three decades — that is, until now. Experience one of Krista's Long Rods and you will be utterly amazed that such a wonderful action and technique has been all but forgotten.

Krista's Long Rods have taken years to get to the production stage. They owe their very existence, in part, to the late Paul Brown, who was the rod designer for the Fenwick Rod Co. in the early 1980s. He truly understood the magic of the "classic" spey rod and sought to capture its essence using modern materials. The late Mr. Brown's ultimate dream was to duplicate the dynamics of an 18-foot English/Scottish Greenhart Spey Rod from the 1800s, considered by experts to be the best spey rod in world history. The challenge was to produce the same action using modern chemistry, thereby eliminating the 2 to 5 pounds that a Greenhart rod weighed. In fact, they have only 15 percent of the weight with the old 2 pound rod weighing 5 ounces and the 5 pound version weighing 12 ounces.

Philip Krista, Scottish spey casting instructor and guide who had been teaching spey and long rod techniques for more than two decades, has gone on to produce rods that are beyond an angler's wildest dreams armed with the knowledge passed on by the late Mr. Brown.

To date, we will be the only company offering both 18-foot and 21-foot True Spey, traditional and overhead casting rods. We have rods available TODAY!!!

Upon ordering, the rods take about four to eight weeks to roll and build the blank, then to add the hardware. Please be patient once you have ordered.
